It's a series of portraits depicting people we feel make Wellingborough and the surrounding area a better place. This one features one of Unorthodox's resident artists, Daniel Cheney. The new Monsalina Chic dresses are on the racks as part of our new Little Black Dress display, to help you find the perfect one. Also, the new RedRock Fashion pieces will also be going on the shelves this morning. We're getting all of these photographed this afternoon so hope to have them on the online shop before Christmas.

Got a few photoshoots going on at the Unorthodox studio today with our photographer Brian Chapman. More news to come on that front, but today we've got Daniel Cheney (one of our artists) being photographed as part of our Local Heroes series, as well as our usual model Tahnee showing off the new pieces. Plus, while Tahnee's doing this I get to entertain her son Zack so quite looking forward to that too!

Had a great weekend. Thanks to all our customers, both in store and online.

For our Xmas opening times we've added some extra hours in the run up, and will be open every day until Xmas:
As normal except
Sunday 19th: 10am - 4pm
Monday 20th: 9am - 5.30pm
Xmas Eve: 9am - 6.30pm

We will then be closed Xmas Day and reopen on Wednesday 29th.

Next, some news on our Dr Martens. The Patent 8-Eye boots are out of stock until March (with the Cherry Red Patent having been discontinued). These can still be ordered now to ensure you get them, but we will contact everyone who orders them to make sure they are ok with the later than usual delivery date.

Our new Monsalina Chic dresses are due in this week (and maybe some RedRock Fashion pieces too) so if you've not got all your presents and party gear ready yet, keep your eyes open for those.

Lots of exciting new things in this weekend. First off, we have some gorgeous new Max C 'Damien' handbags. Available in black, grey or khaki, this skull-studded bags are absolutely gorgeous (I've already nabbed one and it is much admired so far!). The black one has gold coloured studs, the other colours have silver coloured. Big enough to fit in all your essentials, but not too bulky, these are the usual stunning design and quality you can expect from Max C, whose bags have been getting tons of press attention. The clutch version of this one was featured in Heat magazine, so be one of the first to get the handbag. We'll get them up on the online shop as soon as possible, but in the meantime they are available in store now.

The next new thing is our Barry M gift boxes. Getting started on our Xmas card writing today, and hopefully going to make it out later to stock up on Xmas decorations to make the shop all pretty.

Like our glassware? Well Smashing Glass by Dorne Boddington is featuring in an exhibition at The Castle arts centre in Wellingborough throughout December, so if you're about, pop in and marvel!

We had our first celebrity spotting today. Ok, well it was the actor who played Sam in Neighbours and Lachy in Home & Away in the early 90s, and he is in panto in Wellingborough so not that shocking, but still, he walked past this morning. I tried not to stare. That's made my week.

New arrivals yesterday included Stargazer Glitter Shakers (including UV ones), Stargazer Neon Gel Colour wash-out UV hair colour, Barry M Instant Nail Effects, Barry M Liquid Eyeliner in Pink, and new Barry M Dazzle Dust colour N0.102 Burgundy Noir. As yet, no sign of snow in the vicinity of Unorthodox, although it is very very cold! Since the electric heater won't tilt up high enough, I'm considering sitting on the floor to get more of me in the path of the hot air! Just peer over the counter if you can't see me...

Pick Of The Day are these gorgeous purple Dr Martens. These are the 1460 8-Eye, possible the most famous and classic of the DM boots. Purple is a key colour for Autumn/Winter this year, although it's always one of my favourites! It just makes them that little bit different without being ostentatious. There's been a definite surge in the popularity of false lashes lately. Not sure if it's because of Halloween, the upcoming festive season, or because they're on almost every X Factor contestant (with the exception of some of the boys) but I thought it was a good reason to have them as our Pick Of The Day. Pick Of The Day today are these Dr Marten New Authentic Wedge Calf Boots in Peacock Broadway. New on our online shop this morning, we also have a pair in store for those who want to look them over (or try them on if size 7 is close to what you take). These are perfect for Autumn and Winter, and are the ultimate boots of their style. The lush peacock colour is fantastic, and they're made in DM's Broadway finish, which is a full-grain leather with a soft comfortable feel. Personally, as a bit on the short side, I'm not someone who goes for flats, but I really did find these so comfy, so I recommend you give them a go.

Pick Of The Day is this Rubertine Art Airbrushed Wayne Rooney T-Shirt, since he's in the news again. Airbrushed by hand, the designs in the Rubertine Art range are strictly limited, and are more like works of art than t-shirts. So if you want to show your support for Rooney, or the England team in general (I think they need it!) then this has to be the most stylish way of doing it. Expertly modelled here by our very own Steve, we're not quite sure what he's doing to Rooney in one of these photos, but we're pretty sure it's nothing that would surprise anyone at this point!
