Tartan Army

Morning,

Hope you all had a good weekend. We have now heard that the patent Dr Martens that we've been waiting on are now due in around 15th April. We apologise for the delay to those who have them pre-ordered. For those who don't and who fancy a pair, the quicker you get your order in, the more likely we are to get it to you in the size and colour you want quickly. So why not treat yourself this spring?

We had local band The Liabilities in on Saturday to do a shoot with our photographer, Brian Chapman. It was the usual carnage associated with those lot (I keep finding random scarves and jackets upstairs now). If you're in the Northampton area on Friday, they're playing at the Avenue campus Student Union.

Pick Of The Day today is this perfectly punky Death Kitty Purple Tartan Skirt, £15.00 (we also have a few left of the red tartan version). It has a black net tutu trim at the bottom, and the Death Kitty logo safety pinned on the front, for added effect. It's a really fun little skirt, and looks great with leggings or over trousers (or be daring and just bare legs, if the weather's getting warmer!).

Spring has sprung!

Parroting On

Morning,

It's Saturday! Admittedly, feeling a bit tired today (not sure why) but we're here to help you look and feel your best!

Going to change the window display later. Always enjoy doing my stylist bit! Going to put some more of our Yumi pieces on the female mannequins, and have a great pair of Dr Martens 8-Eye boots in Purple to put on display as well (they were from a cancelled order, so if anyone's a size 9, give these a try!).

Pete's in the corner designing the poster for the next Retro-Beat at the Horseshoe Inn, and our photographer Brian is coming in later to do his thing in the Unorthodox studio upstairs. So if you're in town today, pop in and say hello!

Pick Of The Day is this Yumi Xaviera Parrot Sun Dress, £50.00, that went up on our online shop yesterday. It's available in black, navy or beige, and has a contrasting coloured print of exotic flowers and parrots, both front and back. The neckline is decorated with coloured beads, and it has a very elegant cross-strap back. It's a lovely piece for your summer wardrobe, and our customers have already been having dilemmas over which colour they prefer (I would always recommend buying all three, but then I would say that!). I think it's really typical of Yumi's style, with the colourful print and simple lines, so if you're a fan of the label, this is a must-have.

Have a great weekend!

Racy Lacy

Morning,

It's Saturday! Woop!

Well, that's our Audrey Hepburn umbrellas sold out. We may get some more in at some point, but as always, we try to only get things in limited numbers to keep them new, exciting and desirable, so it won't be straight away. I think them selling so quickly is a testament to our customers' fantastic taste and our lousy weather!

Best seller of the Yumi collection so far? The Larinda top. It's not on the online shop yet, but we'll get it up there as soon as possible.

If you're in the mood for something literary, check out my review of Edward Hogan's The Hunger Trace on my Hell Oh Kitty blog.

Continuing our current Yumi obsession, guess what Pick Of The Day is? :)

Pick Of The Day is this beautiful Yumi Quimella Lace Skirt. It's available in black, brown or beige. The underskirt has a beautiful satin feel, and it's overlaid with the gorgeous sheer cream lace top skirt. It has contrasting coloured elasticated waistband and lace detail on the hem. I especially love what our photographer Brian Chapman has done with these photos, and our model Rebecca looks fantastic!

Choose your Yumi Quimella Lace Skirt on our online shop.

All that's left for me to say is have a great weekend, and if you need us today to help you complete your Saturday night outfit, we'll be here! Otherwise, see you on Tuesday!

Ashes To Ashes

Morning,

Had a great weekend. The Unorthodox team were out in force for The Horseshoe's first Comedy Night on Sunday, which was fantastic. Oh, and it was my birthday. I don't feel any older, yet, though. Which is nice.

Audrey Hepburn umbrellas are selling fast (the weather is probably helping!) so if you want to stay dry in the most stylish way possible, make one yours today!

We had a great photo shoot on Saturday with the new Yumi pieces. Local artist Rebecca Sturdgess modelled for us (we have lots of her art in stock, so check that out), and she did a fantastic job. Our resident photographer Brian Chapman of Brian Chapman Photography was running the show, and it was great fun. Loved seeing the Yumi pieces being worn. Once the photos are ready, we'll have them up on our Facebook page, and you'll be able to see them on the Yumi item pages when they're on the online shop.

Pick Of The Day today is this Spiral Direct Phoenix Rising T-Shirt because we only have one left! It's 100% and features the fantastic prints Spiral are famous for. There's an awesome back print too, so you're getting your money's worth! We're gradually cutting down on our menswear, so grab a piece of history!

View and order the Spiral Direct Phoenix Rising T-Shirt on our online shop.

Have a great week!

Everything In It's Lace

Morning,

It's Saturday! Ok, so it's raining, but still feeling the weekend joy. We have our photographer Brian Chapman coming in later to photograph the new Yumi pieces, which should be fun. Also, finally sorted my hair out which is now black with Stargazer Violet Hair Colour through the fringe and front. Big thank you to our model Tahnee for sorting that out! Also, it's my birthday tomorrow, so looking forward to comedy night at The Horseshoe down the road.

Have also started reading Edward Hogan's The Hunger Trace so will report back if it's any good.

Pick Of The Day is this gorgeous Max C London Bow Lace Dress in cream. It has ribbon trim around the arms and neckline, the bow detail, and a crocheted floral top layer. It also has the distinctive bubble hem that Max C love so much. All in all, it's a gorgeous piece, and it's now in our sale, reduced from £45 to only £30!

View and order the Max C Bow Lace Dress on our online shop.

Have a great weekend, and come check out our new Spring/Summer range if you're in town!

Many Puddles To Cross

Morning,

Just today and tomorrow to go. Remember, we're open until 5.30pm today, and for an extra hour tomorrow until 6.30pm for you to get all your shopping done. For those who have ordered things through the online shop, we hope they have reached you in time, and we have tried to keep you all posted on any delays, but as I'm sure you can appreciate, it's a little unpredictable at the moment.

This photo, as well as illustrating our Pick Of The Day, is from a collaborative project between Brian Chapman Photography and Unorthodox called Local Heroes. It's a series of portraits depicting people we feel make Wellingborough and the surrounding area a better place. This one features one of Unorthodox's resident artists, Daniel Cheney. He can be seen wearing the Worn Free Jimmy Cliff 'The Harder They Come' t-shirt which is our Pick Of The Day. Created to mark Island Records anniversary, this is a fully licensed piece of merchandise with a fantastic retro print. Only a few sizes left now, so get in quick if you want a bit of winter sunshine!

Stay warm!
